Dhowatikra is a village of Bansaruli Panchayat of Silli block in Ranchi district with approx 80 households and consisting the population of 351 with male 181 and female 170 respectively.

Every farmers of this village has been facing the problem of irrigation and proper guidance and planning in the production of their various crops. Every farmers are fully dependent on the Monsoon.

During the kharif (wet) season, farmers main crop is Paddy; their next crop consists of seasonal vegetables, oilseeds, and pulses. Most farmers in the village are either marginal, having less than 1 hectare of farmland, or small, with a farm size of 1-2 hectares.

Sri Abhimaniu Mahto is a small farmer resides in the village of Dhowatikra and having the land ownership of 7-8 acres of land. He is sincere, hard laborious, honest and highly committed to his work. Due to lack of irrigation and technical facility, he was unable to utilize his land for generating his income. Our organization selected him as a beneficiaries for the project of National Horticulture Mission, Ranchi, Jharkhand for the cultivation of Tomato and cucumber in the year 2011-12. We have finalize the agreement with Sri Abhimaniu Mahto for covering his 4 Hec. of land in the year 2011-12 and for the cultivation of Tomato and cucumber. He started his work with proper planning, resources including our support and guideline.

We have provided him every type of technical and physical, backward and forward support by the active cooperation and participation of officers/authorities of NHM, Jharkhand. The officer of NHM and agricultural specialist has supported us and our farmer time to time. As we have already mentioned, that he is sincere, hard laborious, honest and highly committed to his work. Due to his hard labour, commitment and sincerity, he is successful to produce 6000 KG (60 Qunt.) of Tomato and 4500 KG (45 Qunt.) of Cucumber in the year 2011-12. He sold it @ Rs. 15/- and Rs. 12/- per kg respectively and surprisingly done the turnover of Rs. 1,44,000 approx after sailing the production.

In this way, the social, financial and economical status of his family has been upgraded. Now they are more aware, inform, educate and communicate than the past.

As a result, most of the farmers of the Dhowatikra Villages has been very much influenced and want to adopt the various scheme under the NHM, Jharkhand. At present, he has already involved in some other schemes of National Horticulture Mission, Ranchi, Jharkhand with active support of our organization.
